Artichoke Music Venue is a vibrant space in Portland dedicated to bringing the community together through live music. Since 1971, it has been a hub for diverse performances, fostering a welcoming environment where musicians and audiences connect and celebrate the joy of music.

Parking: Limited onsite, street parking available

Venue Specs

Venue: 50 upgraded upholstered chairs plus additional bar stools and bistro tables. Standing configurations available by request.

Stage: 14’ x 9’ hardwood stage - suitable for dance performances. Large stage carpet is normally used for comfort and sound control.

PA: Full system including: QSC 12.2 main speakers; QSC 10.2 stage monitors; PreSonus Series III – 16 digital mixer; 16 by 8 integrated digital stage box; additional 16 channel analog snake; generous selection of mics, DI’s, stands, cables, etc.

Lighting: Full DMX controlled LED lighting system.

Video: Fixed video streaming and recording system featuring: 3 stationary and 2 operable cameras; Blackmagic Designs 8 input switcher with recording capability; dedicated Apple streaming computer; high speed internet connectivity.

Instruments: Yamaha digital piano (check model number); Pearl house drum kit; numerous guitars, mandolins, banjos, and other string instruments available if requested.

Volunteer With us

Are you interested in serving the local music community?  We have lots of opportunities for you to put your special traits, skills, and talents to good use at Artichoke Music!  

Just read the position descriptions below.  If something sparks your interest please download our Volunteer Application and send it to vol_co@artichokemusic.org or drop it off in person at the store during regular business hours (12pm-5pm, Thursday - Sunday).  Please note: we process volunteer applications once a week on Wednesdays.  

Volunteer Positions at Artichoke

  1. Sound Tech - assist with running audio for live events in the venue (approx. 4 hours/shift)

  2. Video Tech - assist with video broadcasting of live events in the venue (approx. 4 hours/shift)

  3. Door Host - assist with door, welcome guests, and process cash admissions (approx. 2 - 3 hours/shift)

  4. Bartender - Bar service during events - MUST have or agree to get OLCC servers license (approx. 3 - 4 hours/shift)

  5. Venue Emcee - Introduce the band and make announcements at the beginning of the show & at intermission (from the stage), assist with light clean up at the end of the show (approx. 2 - 3 hours/shift)

  6. Custodian - help with maintenance, clean-up, janitorial and other housekeeping duties, light general construction services - both requiring or not requiring a contractors license (1 hour minimum/shift)

  7. Store Helper - (knowledge about stringed instruments preferred) assist with greeting and helping customers, may need to help with housekeeping duties - sweeping, vacuuming, cleaning bathrooms, watering plants, etc...(2.5 hours minimum/shift)
