Whether you have already attended some of Portland's various Gypsy Jazz Jams or would like to in the future, this on-line class will prepare/aid you in many ways. 

Tracy Kim has hosted the Gypsy Jazz Jam Workshop for over 8 years in the Portland area. A master teacher, Tracy Kim, has had over half a  million views on his popular instructional ukulele and guitar videos on YouTube. At Artichoke Music, he brings his personable and down to earth teaching style to the students live in the classroom.  Creating an ideal learning environment in a small group setting, Tracy can give you the tips and pointers, proper techniques, and complete understanding of the music that you'll be learning.  Besides that, you'll be jamming with others and having so much fun!

In this class, Tracy gives insight on the following topics: 

-Jam session etiquette 
-Core repertoire for Gypsy Jazz 
-Following and understanding song forms (how not to get lost!) 
-Trading licks, twos, fours, eights. 
-Building lick repertoire and some easy soloing tricks and concepts written in Tracy's various etudes (will be passed out in class) 
-Learn common song forms and progressions and how they can applied to countless other tunes! 
-How to sight read charts (learn to analyze quickly and simplify/memorize tunes) 
-Techniques on learning melodies
