Ukuleles
The
ukulele is making yet another comeback, and Artichoke Music is ukulele
central!
Native Hawaiians developed the ukulele in
the 1880s by combining the Portuguese Madeiran braguinha with the
rajao. Its name roughly translates as jumping flea.
The sound of a uke tends to make people
smile. It may also make Americans think of Arthur Godfry, Ukulele Ike, or
Tiny Tim. Whatever its association, we believe that if everyone played a
ukulele, the world would be a more peaceful place!
We have instruments for all levels of
players in a great selection of shapes, sizes and colors. We even have a
line of ukes made especially for Artichoke Music by Oregon’s
Sprucehouse in Eugene.
Other brands include:
- Ko
Aloha
- Sprucehouse
- Fluke
- Flea
- Mahalo
- Aquila Strings
In addition to our regular inventory, we
always have a vintage uke or two with the character that a life of being
played brings to an instrument.
We also carry a wide range of ukulele
accessories and books.
