Thursday Night Songwriter Roundup

Come join our weekly celebration of songwriting and songwriter community every Thursday, starting July 2. It's a great chance to hear from a wide variety of Portland-area songwriters, or to play a tune for an appreciative audience of song-lovers.

Songwriters are invited to put their name in the hat and play an original song as names are drawn throughout the evening. Song-lovers are invited to come and enjoy the great diversity of talent we have in our area.

Each week a featured performer presents a 30 to 40 minute set as well. Hosted by Matt Meighan, with Sherry Pendarvis on upright bass. All welcome!

Time:   Thursday evenings from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Cost:   $5.00

Friday Night Coffee House

Join us every Friday night for an evening of live, eclectic music. Our treasure trove of local talent brings you music from the folk and world music traditions.

Coffee House provides an opportunity to play for musicians of many different levels of expertise. Whether you are already a professional or you are performing on stage for the first time, it gives you a wonderful opportunity to get experience and try out new material before a live and supportive audience.

Community is at the heart of our Friday night coffee houses. This is the place to be whether you are on stage or in the audience. Expect home baked treats, coffee, tea and an evening that is always fun and entertaining―and sometimes full of surprises, too!

Time:   Friday evenings from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Saturday Song Circle and Jam Session with Richard Colombo

Note: We'll have no Song Circles or Jams in December - see you in January!

Whether you are new to music performance or an old hand, you are warmly invited to bring your instrument and your voice and join us in the weekly Song Circle and Jam Session!

This is a wonderful venue in which to develop your musicality, work on your improvisational skills, sing a bunch of great songs, and make beautiful harmony with new and old friends.

Every Saturday we have either a traditional song circle or slow jam. The Song Circle uses our own binder of songs and the Rise Up Singing songbook. We go around the circle, giving each person the opportunity to choose a song (if they want to) for all of us to sing and play together. The Slow Jam gives everyone an opportunity to learn to play and sing without a book in front of them. It is a great way to build a music theory base and to learn to hear chord changes.

Saturday afternoons at Artichoke are a wonderful way to energize your heart and body, make new friends, and have a rousing good time! We guarantee you will leave with a smile on your face.

Time:   Every Saturday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Cost:   $5.00
