Heavily drawn from the moving chord patterns developed by Eldon Shamblin of Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys, Texas style rhythm guitar can seem very complex and daunting to attempt. In hour and a half, we will use simple fiddle tunes such as Sallie Goodin and Liberty to explore the treasures of Texas style rhythm. If you are familiar with some basic chords, such as A, D, G and E, this course will help you expand your chord library and understanding of chord structure. About Jonathan Trawick
Jonathan Trawick, raised with the old time fiddle tradition, music runs through his veins. He started playing guitar in his early college years, adding mandolin to his repertoire in the last few years. His driving style is crisp, musical and inspiring. Passionate for Texas style, old time, Irish and bluegrass music, Jonathan is currently teaching, performing and promoting music and national championship musicians throughout the United States. He initiated and coordinates the Arkansas Pickin’ and Fiddlin’ Championships, now in its fourth year, at Wildwood Park in Little Rock, Arkansas.
As a musician, he has thrice won the Accompanist Award for the Arkansas Old Time Fiddle Championship in Mountain View, Arkansas. He has accompanied championship fiddlers across the country. Jonathan is particularly talented with and has taught workshops on Texas style accompaniment and embellishing. He currently teaches private lessons and has worked with 7 time World Champion Fiddler, Jim "Texas Shorty" Chancellor, 3 time Grand Master Fiddle Champion, Matthew Hartz, 7 time National Fiddle Champion, Megan Lynch, legendary Missouri fiddler, Junior Marriott and Grand National Fiddle Champion, Dale Morris, Jr. among others.
