Dave Mullany started playing guitar in 1968 and just never stopped. He spent 14 years living in NYC where he played or performed with a wide list of people including members of John Lennon's Plastic Ono Band, Bo Diddley, Muddy Waters, Jerry Garcia, Sonny Terry & Brownie McGee, Mike Love of the Beach Boys, and Jorma Kaukonen. His live performances include places such as Folk City, The Savoy, The Lone Star Cafe, The Palladium, Roseland, Ballroom, CBGB's, The Blues Brothers Club and Stduio 54. Dave's recording experience in NYC includes vocal work with Shawn Colvin as well as a recording with Rolling Stones producer Jimmy Miller.
In 1991 Dave and his family moved to Portland, where he began focusing on acoustic guitar and the roots of the blues. Having studied with blues artists John Cephas, Phil Wiggins, Woody Mann, Bob Brozman, Martin Simpson, Dave brings a strong traditional blues style into his original music. In July 2002 Dave played Portland's Waterfront Blues Festival.
Dave's extensive experience and his patient nature combine to make him a very effective teacher. He's taught both classes and private lessons for more than 15 years now and has taught at Artichoke Music since 1999. Dave has also taught at Portland Community College and in 2002 Dave joined the staff of International Guitar Seminars. Here he joins Bob Brozman, Woody Mann, John Cephas, John Renbourn, Mary Flower, Pat Donahue, and others teaching in both NYC and San Diego.
