Charlie Christian was a pioneer in the jazz guitar world, perhaps the most important jazz guitarist(along with Django Reinhardt!)
His influence can be heard on ALL the greatest jazz guitarists such as West Montgomery, Grant Green, George Benson, Barney Kessel, Tal Farlow, Kenny Burrell, Joe Pass, and Herb Ellis, to name a few.
In the seven week course, Tracy Kim will teach the students many of the compositions, licks, and solos with analysis of Charlie Christian. The tunes/excerpts will be selected from: Six Appeal, Seven Come Eleven, Solo Flight, Rose Room, Honeysuckle Rose, Topsy, A Smooth One, Wholly Cats, Breakfast Feud, Air Mail Special, Flying Home, Gone with “What” Wind, Grand Slam, Shivers, Stardust, Stompin' at the Savoy, and I Found A New Baby.
Perhaps, most importantly, Tracy will help the students organize the fretboard into shapes and patterns that will help the student apply the swingin' and soulful sounds from the jazz guitar legend, Charlie Christian.
